Pioneers of Tomorrow is bringing the world of aerospace to the next generation of leaders with a dedicated day to inspire, engage and recruit the industry’s future workforce.

Organised in collaboration between Farnborough International and ADS, and as part of the world-famous Farnborough International Airshow, the event will take place on Friday 22 July and will provide industry exhibitors a rare opportunity to engage with and inspire with future aerospace recruits.

PROVIDING VALUABLE INSIGHT

Aimed at school children aged 11+, school leavers, graduates and career movers, Pioneers of Tomorrow will introduce the next generation of leaders, innovators and pioneers to employers, providing valuable insight into the wealth of career opportunities available throughout dynamic, global industries.

With a vast range of on-site Science, Technology, Engineering, and Arts (STEM) focused activities, access to watch the full air display and explore the comprehensive static aircraft display, young adults, parents and guardians will gain a meaningful understanding of what careers across the aerospace industry promise; the skills required and the value that studying STEM subjects delivers. A dedicated Careers Hub will feature within the airshow exhibition, providing a platform for students, graduates and young professionals to access one-on-one specialist advice, topical seminars and a live jobs board.

INSPIRING AND INFORMING THE NEXT GENERATION

Gareth Rogers, Chief Executive of Farnborough International says: “With an estimated shortage of over 173,000 professionals in the STEAM sector, it is vital for the industry to inspire the next generation of leaders and close the skills gap that has been persistent across the last four years. Pioneers of Tomorrow has been developed to not only inspire and inform the next generation, but to provide a platform for the global aerospace industry to address major concerns about its future workforce.”

“With its position at the most important aerospace event worldwide, Farnborough International Airshow, Pioneers of Tomorrow will enable attendees to speak directly to the globally recognised companies and experts on-site about the future of the industry and how they can play a role in the next steps of innovation.”

Launching July 2022, the Aerospace Global Forum (AGF) is a revolutionary global platform that aims to champion change and drive immediate action, accelerating transition to the new, net-zero economy.

Developed by Farnborough International, AGF will bring global leaders together, across all industries, sectors, and geographies, together for the very first time to drive conversation and interrogate issues to actively change the world for the better through an aerospace lens.

Taking place in tandem with the world-famous Farnborough International Airshow, 18-22 July 2022, AGF will set the agenda for industry in the years ahead, discussing the new digital workforce and future leaders of the aerospace and defence industry, and preparing organisations for the new skills needed in an AI-fuelled world. Topics include transitioning to Net Zero, sustainability across the defence sector, smart manufacturing and hyper-scaling within the industry to accelerate change.

The future-focused forum will provide pioneers of change with an immersive platform to connect, engage and learn through a diverse five-day programme of inspiring thought leaders and impactful discussions. Leaders from the finance and energy sectors, governments, climate consultancies, start-ups, OEMs and their supply chains will gather for to share, debate and energise collaboration.

Speaking of the opening instalment of AGF, Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International, said: “The 2022 Aerospace Global Forum will be the catalyst to create transformation and accelerate tangible change together through bringing the aerospace world together and tackling the challenges we are facing as an industry and the world.

“Climate change is the largest challenge to affect the world and we must react to it as an industry with the support of governments, academics, regulators and innovators. A diverse platform is needed to host these future-altering discussions, leading us to harness our pioneering spirit to develop and curate the Aerospace Global Forum. I urge industry leaders to join us in driving change and mapping out the next steps to achieve a net zero economy.”

Kevin Craven, CEO of ADS, added: “The Aerospace Global Forum provides a real opportunity for the leaders of industry to come together with academics, government and innovators to consider the existential challenges that the aviation industry are facing both now and in the future. We need to understand what action can be taken within the sector to overcome these challenges and use the AGF to drive real action and change to ensure the aviation industry can adapt for the future.”

AGF isn’t just a five-day platform. The thought leadership programme has been designed to drive change past July 2022 and create a springboard for a suite of spin-off forums and conferences in aviation communities around the world, throughout the year. Working with like-minded accredited partners, the programme has been developed to produce actionable outcomes and strategies that will hold leading industry organisations to be held accountable in progress moving forward.

It is with great regret that we announce the Farnborough International Airshow 2020, due to take place in July, is cancelled.

After very careful consideration, the unprecedented impact of the global Coronavirus pandemic has forced this decision in the interests of the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors, contractors and staff.

This decision was reached taking into consideration several major factors surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19, all of which we have concluded, make it impossible for us to create and host the Airshow this July.

We understand this news will be an incredible disappointment to all across the international aerospace industry, not to mention our important exhibitors, suppliers and visitors. We at Farnborough International share your disappointment that we are unable to present the Airshow as planned, but rest assured, we are determined to continue to work together and will ensure the Farnborough International Airshow returns in 2022 better than ever.

Yours sincerely,

The Farnborough International Board of Directors
